Camp Okavango overview
Set in on Nxaraga (Na-ra-ka) Island in the heart of the world-renowned Okavango Delta, Camp Okavango is a perfect safari base for enjoying the watery world of the Delta. From here you’ll set off on voyages of discovery, floating gently through water channels in a mokoro, or cruising along the rivers in motorboats, all the while watching out for the animal and bird life of the Delta. You’ll also have the opportunity to get out into the bush on foot, led by your knowledgeable guide, for closer scrutiny of the plants, insects, birds and other minutiae as well as glimpses of larger game. Please note there are no game drives available here.
The camp itself provides all the creature comforts you’ll need. Your large suite offers ample space and is set on a raised wooden deck among shady trees. Folding doors open onto a wide private viewing deck with classic delta views, a great place to chill between activities. Entering the suite you’ll find large beds, storage space, tea and coffee making facilities, bathrobes and cooling fans, and you’ll have the benefit of 24 hour solar power. The spacious bathroom has twin showers and twin hand basins, and a supply of toiletries.
Meals are usually communal affairs where you’ll have time to get to know other guests and swap safari experiences while savouring the chef’s creations. The main area comprises several decks linked by wooden walkways. There is a choice of indoor and outdoor seating areas, a library, a dining room and self-service bar. There is a lovely infinity pool and terrace with sunny and shaded seating areas. As darkness approaches guests gather around the firepits for drinks and conversation prior to dinner. From all locations there are excellent views of the delta.
