Chobe Elephant Camp

Chobe Elephant Camp is set on a loft bluff above the Chobe River just a few minutes’ drive from the entrance to the national park. There are expansive views of the floodplains from all parts of the lodge, making it a memorable place to stay for your safari. Staff provide a warm welcome which includes a song and dance and a drink!

The attractive chalets have polished wooden floors, ceiling beams and rustic furniture, coupled with modern comforts and conveniences. All have a private bathroom with contemporary fittings and both indoor and outdoor showers. Sandbags in the thick walls provide effective insulation from the heat of summer and the cold of winter. The balcony has far reaching views across the plains to Namibia and you’ll pass many pleasant moments here.

Communal areas include the restaurant and the high-ceilinged lounge-cum-bar, where you’ll encounter other guests and can swap travellers’ tales over a chilled beer. There’s a quiet corner where you can catch up with some reading and a plunge pool with a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole. The camp fire is lit just before sundown each evening, and this is the perfect spot from which to watch the sunset, drink in hand. You can also come back here after dinner for some star gazing and to mingle with other guests.

Based at Chobe Elephant Camp your days will be filled with game drives, and boat safaris in the east of the park, and wildlife spotting under expert guidance. Nature walks in the neighbouring Forest Reserve are popular, as are visits to the local village of the Sibuya tribe, for an insight into their daily lives.

Tuskwana the Elephant is your guide to choosing acommodation that make a difference to their community or environment. And you can click him for our TRAVEL + PROTECT page.

Tuskwana the Elephant likes this because…

Bushways (owners of Chobe Elephant Camp) established the Bushways Foundation. They strive to ensure all that they do has a positive impact and contributes to sustainable development of the wilderness areas in which they operate. Projects to date range from providing shoes to children and adults in remote villages, doors for their houses, setting up a village library, building pre-schools in Khwai and Kavimba and providing environmental education in nearby schools.

And don’t forget … for every booking we take, Botswana Specialists (which is part of Tribes Travel) plants trees in deforested areas of Africa through The Travel Forest, and we also back The Tribes Foundation’s conservation and social projects.
