Chobe Safari Lodge

Chobe Safari Lodge is a large lodge with first rate facilities. It adjoins the national park and is within reach of Victoria Falls. Being so close to Chobe National Park means you can enjoy game drives of durations ranging from three hours to all day with a picnic lunch. Boat cruises are another great way to view Chobe’s scenery and wildlife. Hippo, buffalo, crocodile, birds and, of course, elephant are frequently seen from the boat.

In both cases you’ll be accompanied by an experienced guide to make the most of your wildlife experience. Fishing is a popular pastime. With chances to catch tigerfish and bream, and bird watching walks can be arranged. The lodge can arrange full day excursions to Victoria Falls plus a number of other local trips.

Facilities at the lodge include an attractive restaurant set beneath a thatched roof with open sides so you can enjoy the views down to the river as you eat. There’s a choice of buffet and a la carte options with a wide range of cuisines available. For an extra special dinner you can book a table on one of the lodge’s two boats, sampling dishes from the buffet and sipping wine as you cruise along the Chobe River. The lodge has two bars, both offering panoramic views, plus an internet café. Other facilities include a health and beauty salon, a gift shop and a lovely outdoor swimming pool.

There are three types of rooms: safari rooms, river rooms and rondavels. The first two offer similar accommodation with air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom, TV, phone and private terrace. Safari rooms are the newest, while river rooms have a shared garden and include some larger family rooms. The thatched rondavels are the lodge’s original rooms and offer simpler accommodation cooled by ceiling fans. They have en-suite bathrooms and small decks.

Tuskwana the Elephant likes this because…

Under One Botswana Sky, the company that owns and runs Chobe Safari Lodge, is heavily involved in many grass roots projects. These include health screening tests for staff, experiences for local underprivileged children ranging from annual Christmas party to boat cruises and game drives, support of the Kachikau Special Care Unit for mentally and physically disabled children, craft workshops and much more.

And don’t forget … for every booking we take, Botswana Specialists (which is part of Tribes Travel) plants trees in deforested areas of Africa through The Travel Forest, and we also back The Tribes Foundation’s conservation and social projects.
