Gomoti Tented Camp

Gomoti Tented Camp lies in the heart of the community owned Santawani Concession. This 6000 ha wilderness area is in the south-east corner of the Okavango Delta. The area consists of woodland, grasslands and seasonal floodplain, the varied eco system attracting an array of wildlife.

This eco-friendly camp, with no permanent structures, is staffed by members of the local Sankuyo community. It’s a wonderful combination of authentic adventure with home comforts added in. With just 5 canvas tents in the small, intimate camp, guests are assured of an exclusive experience.

The walk-in tents are spacious and comfortable. They have been designed and decorated to recreate a safari of yester-year with modern comforts such as running water added in. 12 volt reading lamps sit atop the bedside tables and there is space to hang your clothes. To the rear of your tent is your private en-suite bathroom which has a flush toilet, basin and shower. Teak director’s chairs provide your comfy seating and these can be taken onto the shaded veranda where you can relax and take in the sights and sounds of the bush.

The thatched main area is more contemporary in design and décor. This area includes the dining room where you can enjoy freshly prepared meals, there’s also a comfortable lounge area and a bar, cold drinks are always available. It’s a great place to relax during the day and in the evenings hurricane lamps and a crackling fire set the scene.

Day and night drives will be led by your experienced guide who will be only to happy to share his extensive knowledge. Wildlife is plentiful in the surrounding area with plenty of grazers enjoying the fertile grassy land. There are regular sightings of leopard, cheetah, lion, giraffe and of course elephant. Another activity giving a different perspective is a guided walk. Together with your armed guide you’ll go out in search of wildlife, big and small. It’s a chance to get close to the smaller things that you might otherwise miss, learn a little more about the flora as well as the insects and beetles that help make the ecosystem tick!
