Khwai Guest House

Stay in a homely cottage and unwind in the lounge and by the campfire between game drives and mokoro rides, with the chance to take a guided tour of Khwai village and learn about life in rural Botswana.

Khwai Guest House is located in the small village of the same name, bordering Moremi Game Reserve. With its rustic cottages and open plan main area the guest house has a pleasantly low-key atmosphere where you will feel instantly at ease.

The guest house can be booked on a half or full board, the latter also including activities. If on half board you have the option of taking your pick of the available activities to customise your stay, payable locally. These include half and full-day 4×4 safaris in Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Concession, exploring waterways in a traditional mokoro, night drives and visits to a local community to get a glimpse into local life.

In between you are welcome to take life easy at the guest house, chatting to guests in the light and spacious lounge, sitting down to group meals in the open-sided dining area and enjoying al fresco living by the campfire. There’s a communal kitchen with facilities for self-catering if you prefer to prepare your own meals. Families are welcome but children need to be kept under supervision as there are no fences.

Sandy paths lit by lanterns after dark lead from the central area to the cottages. These are attractive, with thatched roofs and shaded verandas, and provide simple yet comfortable en-suite accommodation.

Times to go

Moremi and Khwai can be visited year round. Dry season is from May to November and the wettest months are January and February, though showers are usually short and heavy often with blue skies in between. Game drives and mokoro trips are offered throughout the year.
