King’s Pool Camp

King’s Pool Camp offers unashamed luxury from its position by an oxbow lagoon on the Linyanti River. The light and airy lounge incorporates interesting features such as reed walls, living tree branches and brick-effect tables. This area is flanked by the long bar and both lead out to the large deck and its campfire centrepiece. Arranged in a crescent around this is a large sofa strewn with colourful cushions, positioned to give everyone a view over the lagoon, which is frequented by elephants. Other facilities include an infinity plunge pool and a gift shop.

Tents are large with high thatch ceilings adding to the sense of space. The mosquito-netted 4-poster bed is bounded on one side by a sofa and coffee table – your own private lounge, and on the other by a dressing table, wardrobe and desk. Equally impressive, the bathroom has twin showers, his and hers hand basins and a clawfoot bathtub, in addition to the outdoor shower. All toiletries are supplied. The wide deck includes a plunge pool, sun loungers and a covered sala where you can lie back on the daybed with a drink from the minibar.

Game drives and night drives show you varied aspects of the Linyanti Concession which has areas of open grassland and riverine forest. There are 2 hides near King’s Pool, one of which is dug into the ground enabling you look out over the water at eye level. Both offer first rate photographic opportunities. This is a well-known birding region and bird watchers will pass happy hours watching waterbirds and birds of prey. Nature walks are offered on request and provide an insight into the fascinating microcosmic world around you. One of the most popular activities is the sunset cruise on Lady Sylvia, a 2-tier colonial-style barge. Look out for bird and animal life as you relax in fine style on board.

King’s Pool Camp Highlights

  • Sundowner cruise on the 2-tier Queen Sylvia
  • Game viewing by land and water
  • View elephants in the Linyanti River from the deck
  • Watch hippos eyeball to eyeball in the underground hide
  • Laze in the private sala after a dip in your plunge pool
