Tented safari camp
Lagoon Camp is situated among ebony and marula trees overlooking the Kwando River in the northern Linyanti area of Botswana. From this privileged location you’ll often witness elephant, hippo, otters and various birds as you relax in camp. Tents are large and luxurious, with sliding doors and windows. They have floors of polished wood and woven rugs and high thatched ceilings. All are en-suite, with indoor bathtubs and separate outdoor showers. Private verandas look out over the lagoon and are ideal for private wildlife watching.
This area is known for its large herds of elephant and buffalo especially in the dry season which, in turn, attract a variety of predators. These include wild dogs and the camp has acquired a reputation as one of the best places in Africa to view these endangered creatures. Game drives offer opportunities to view an array of wildlife, all under the expert leadership of your guide and the excellent spotters. This is a superb and exclusive area for game, and with only two camps in the reserve and the high standard of guiding here, your chances of seeing a lot of wildlife is high.
In the afternoon you can enjoy a different experience aboard the double deck boat as it cruises along the river. There are sure to be some excellent photo opportunities from this vantage point, including the hippos that often follow the boat. Sundowner drinks are served as you head back to the camp in the late afternoon, a civilised way to toast the day.
Lagoon Camp facilities include a large lounge, bar and gift shop and first floor library. The plunge pool offers welcome relief from the heat. Meals are served in the dining room and outside beneath the shade of the trees. Food is of a very high standard and dinners are eaten together not just with other guests but also with guides, which gives you a further chance to benefit from their knowledge and experience.
