Little Kwara overview

Little Kwara is a small, high quality camp, adjacent to Moremi Game Reserve, one of Botswana’s foremost wildlife destinations. With a maximum capacity of ten guests, the camp has an exclusive feel, a world away from any crowds.

Little Kwara closes in July 2018 for refurbishment and is expected to be closed for about a year. The best alternative during this time is Splash Enclave, which is in the same private concession.

There’s a choice of five activities to fill your time and help you explore and understand this wilderness area. Run by Kwando Safaris, this camp has their excellent system of a guide and a tracker per vehicle, maximising your chances of spotting wildlife.   Game drives allow you to cover large amounts of ground, to maximise wildlife sightings. Vehicles can operate off road and at night, to enhance the game drive experience. Guided walks will give you an insight into the entire ecosystem, in which the small animals and plant play just as important role as the larger creatures. You can explore the lagoons by motorboat and by traditional mokoro, offering contrasting experiences, one showcasing the watery expanse of the delta and the other providing steady and stately progress through water channels and chances to glimpse animal and bird life. Fishing can also be arranged.

Activities tend to take place in the early morning and late afternoon, leaving the hottest part of each day free for you to relax in camp, sheltering from the sun in the open-sided lounge set on a raised deck for sweeping views of the savannah, leafing through a book, enjoying a refreshing swim in the pool and savouring some delicious food.

Little Kwara’s tents are large and designed to blend in with their surroundings. They are set on raised wooden platforms, so you’ll have lovely elevated views of the landscape. Interiors are roomy and light, with several screened windows. The en-suite facilities include a bathroom, partly covered shower and separate toilet. At the front of each tent is a shaded veranda. You’re in the heart of the bush here and will be surrounded by animal sounds and calls at night, a wonderful way to fall asleep.

This is a lovely small camp, very intimate. It’s great to have a range of activities to choose from and your guide will fit everything around you. Pre-dinner drinks around the camp fire is great and you’ll be looked after very well here.
