Matetsi Victoria FallsLocated on the mighty Zambezi river, and just 45 minutes from Victoria Falls.
Matetsi Victoria Falls Lodge
Matetsi Victoria Falls has it all, beautiful wilderness, a river setting, varied wildlife and luxurious, stylish accommodation – all of this on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River just 45 minutes from the thriving centre of Victoria Falls.
Matetsi Victoria Falls is actually two separate camps that run alongside the river. Each has nine suites and a family suite, all river facing.
The inviting east and west main areas give you the opportunity to mingle with other guests as you take in the gorgeous river views. There is an infinity pool, a shady guest area and a small deck down by the river where refreshments can be enjoyed. It’s perfect for sipping a pre-dinner drink before sitting down to eat. The dining experience takes place under cover or al fresco on the deck, serenaded by the sounds of the African night time. Alternatively you could opt for a private, lantern lit dinner on your suite’s private deck. Nothing is too much trouble.
There is also River House, a luxurious private villa with four en-suite bedrooms and spacious indoor and outdoor living areas. It comes with dedicated staff including a guide, tracker, chef and butler. The sparkling private pool overlooks the Zambezi. This is a wonderful place for a small group travelling together.
Thanks to the location Matetsi is able to offer a host of activities to keep you entertained during your stay. As well as morning and afternoon game drives in the concession, if you want to make the most of the river then sunrise and sunset boat cruises are a must, and why not try your hand at fishing. If all of this isn’t enough Victoria Falls is a short drive away with plenty of extra activities on offer.

The 20 River Lodge suites, which include two family suites, are huge and split across two separate lodges, giving a small and intimate feel. The suites are modern in design yet every effort has been made to successfully blend them into the scenery. The interiors are enhanced with rustic touches and exquisite artworks by Zimbabwean-born painter, Helen Teede. Overlooking the river your suite has a large private split-level deck housing the plunge pool and outside shower. Inside, apart from the large king size bed that also enjoys river views, you have a spacious lounge area and an en-suite bathroom which includes a circular bathtub and indoor shower with a separate toilet. It’s modern decor with a contemporary African flair which caters for all your creature comforts and more. The family suites have the same facilities as the River Lodge Suites but benefit from an additional en-suite twin bedroom.
This four bedroom private villa is for exclusive use and works well for small groups or families. Air conditioned, it has its own kitchen, and comes with a personal guide, tracker, butler and chef to look after you. You will want for nothing, and this flexible safari experience will be designed around you and your needs.
Open plan living flows through from indoors to outdoors with living areas, dining areas and a wide veranda with a sparkling pool which overlooks the Zambezi. To top things off you have a fireplace and also an outdoor fire bowl, a wonderful place to spend a little time after dark watching the flames as the fire crackles.

Tuskwana the Elephant likes this because…
“Matetsi was set up on the footprints of an original campsite and materials were re-used where possible and sourced locally. Solar powered boreholes supply water and Natura water bottling plants process pure still and sparkling water served in recycled glass bottles. Huge efforts are made to employ and uplift members of the local community.”
And don’t forget … for every booking we take, Botswana Specialists (which is part of Tribes Travel) plants trees in deforested areas of Africa through The Travel Forest, and we also back The Tribes Foundation’s conservation and social projects.
