Moremi Crossing

Moremi Crossing is on Ntswi Island in the floodplains, woodlands and grasslands adjacent to Moremi Game Reserve near Chief’s Island. The camp is surrounded by large ebony, mangosteen and fig trees. The large split-level, crescent-shaped mess area has several different areas and feels spacious. It houses the open plan dining room, bar and lounge with expansive delta views plus a number of smaller seating areas. A short distance away there’s a shaded deck leading to a plunge pool and sunbathing area.

The 16 tents are arranged on both sides of the main building. They are designed in traditional safari style and are set on wooden decks with verandas overlooking the Boro River and Chief’s Island and you’ll be able to watch elephant grazing as you unwind. The accommodation is roomy and light with en-suite bathrooms with a toilet and shower open to the sky.

Activities centre round mokoro rides and guided walks, often combining the two. This allows a close-up view of nature and a chance to get to know and understand the environment with the help of your guide. From a mokoro you’ll get great views of fish eagles, brightly-coloured malachite kingfishers and, if lucky, Pel’s fishing owl, while nature walks on Chief’s Island take in a wide variety of animal and bird species, including elephant, giraffe, zebra, buffalo and predators like lion, leopard and wild dog. You’ll also have the chance to take a relaxing motorboat cruise at sunset. The camp can arrange sleepouts. You’ll set out by mokoro with your guide and set up camp in a specially closed location for a night or two, for an in-depth Okavango Delta experience.
