Nxai Pan Camp

Nxai Pan Camp is situated in the great open grasslands of the pans, where you’ll be awed by the endless horizon and huge skies. You’ll be cosy in your well-designed suite and will be able to observe game round the waterhole in front of the camp – your very own wildlife display with elephants more often than not stealing the show! Game drives venture into Nxai Pan National Park where you should see a variety of animals.

Game viewing is especially rewarding during the rains (about November to April), when the lush vegetation draws wildlife from long distances and you’re likely to encounter giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok and impala, which in turn attract predators including lion, cheetah and leopard. If you stay long enough you’ll be able to travel out to Baines Baobabs, usually as part of a full day trip with a picnic lunch. These giant trees look no different today than when they were famously painted by Thomas Baines some 150 years ago.

Between activities you can relax at the crescent-shaped lodge which is set on a wooden deck and open-fronted for fine views of the pans. It’s a spacious, open plan building incorporating eating and sitting areas and will be where you spend most of your downtime, resting, socialising and enjoying communal meals. The large deck in front of this building is often used for breakfast and, later in the day, for pre and post-dinner drinks round the glowing camp fire.

There’s a plunge pool and a selection of loungers for sun lovers, overlooking the waterhole. Chalets are spacious, with thick walls that insulate them from the heat in summer and from the cold in winter. You’ll have a sitting area and lots of storage space for clothes. The private bathroom has a shower and twin hand basins, and there’s a separate toilet and an outdoor shower. Your private deck faces the waterhole.

Nxai Pan Camp Highlights

  • Enjoy huge vistas of the pans
  • Game drives with expert guides
  • Watch elephants at the waterhole from your deck
  • Visit the giant Baines Baobabs

Kwando actively support local grass roots projects these include Lady Khama Charitable Trust, Kwando’s Bucket Project where a bucket filled with essential household items are donated to households on the rural outskirts of Maun. They are also lead sponsors of local initiative Mummy’s Angels, supporting and empowering mothers and newborns who do not have financial or family support. Kwando matches any donations its clients make to the Lady Khama Charitable Trust and to Mummy’s Angel’s thus doubling the impact of each donation.
