Old Drift Lodge

Relax in your comfortable suite and on your private terrace with its plunge pool as you take in views of the Zambezi River. Tour Victoria Falls, enjoy safaris in the national park and river cruises, returning to sundowners by the firepit, dinner and star gazing.

Built by an old river crossing point, Old Drift Lodge is in Zambezi National Park and is the closest lodge in the park to Victoria Falls. From here you get views of the river and of a nearby waterhole where you can see a variety of animals.

There are 14 spacious suites with air conditioned interiors and private decks where you can enjoy an indulgent open air bath or shower, contemplate the river views, sunbathe and cool off in your plunge pool. Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, or help yourself to the minibar, as you prefer, as you unwind. The family suites have an extra en-suite bedroom but are otherwise identical.

The main areas include a lounge with a central fireplace and folding doors opening on to the large deck, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a jetty that can be used for private dinners and a sunken firepit.

Lots of activities are included in your stay, so you can enjoy a guided tour of Victoria Falls followed by lunch and drinks at the Lookout Café, only paying for the rainforest entry fees. You can enjoy a half-day game drive in the national park and morning or afternoon river cruise and guided nature walks all at no extra expense.

Times to go:

You can visit Old Drift Lodge all year. Victoria Falls is always impressive with peak waterflow from February to May. Zambezi National Park occasionally closes after heavy rains from December to March.

Tuskwana the Elephant is your guide to choosing acommodation that make a difference to their community or environment. And you can click him for our TRAVEL + PROTECT page.

Tuskwana the Elephant likes this because…

“Old Drift Lodge is visited regularly by an environmental officer to conduct surveys on the resident orphaned elephant herd and other wildlife in the Wild Horizons Wildlife Sanctuary to maintain a balance between the animals and the environment. Alien vegetation is removed and soil erosion is managed in the reserve and in adjoining communal areas.”

And don’t forget … for every booking we take, Botswana Specialists (which is part of Tribes Travel) plants trees in deforested areas of Africa through The Travel Forest, and we also back The Tribes Foundation’s conservation and social projects.

You can click on Tuskwana to read more about our TRAVEL + PROTECT initiatives on our Tribes website, including ways you can help with our ongoing projects.
