Chobe Game Lodge was the first lodge built inside the national park and remains the only one on the riverbank within the park boundary. That is not a small thing. Being inside the park means you are already where everyone else is driving to.

It is also the most interesting lodge in Chobe on its own terms. The guiding team is entirely female, which was a first in Botswana and still unusual, and they are excellent. The game vehicles are electric, so you approach a herd of elephant in near silence, and there are solar boats on the river.

Rooms all face the river, with air conditioning, tea and coffee, minibar, safe and a terrace or veranda. Bathrooms have a tub, a separate shower and solar-heated water, and you get a dressing gown and slippers. The four suites add considerably more space and a private plunge pool.

The lodge is large but cleverly laid out, with six lounges, six viewing decks, a riverside boardwalk, four dining areas and two bars, one styled as a Bedouin tent and one at the top with the best view in the place. Three activities run a day, and between them there is a pool with a waterfall and a spa.

Why we are happy to send you here. The first lodge in Botswana to run electric game vehicles, and now solar boats too. Every booking we take also plants trees in deforested parts of Africa through The Travel Forest, and supports the Tribes Foundation.
