Chobe Safari Lodge is large, and that is rather the point. It adjoins the national park, sits on the riverbank at Kasane, and has the facilities of a proper hotel while still being a safari lodge. If you want choice, convenience and a reliable standard rather than intimacy, this is the one.
Being on the park boundary means game drives can run anywhere from three hours to a full day with a picnic lunch. Boat cruises are the other half, and the usual cast turns up alongside the boat: hippo, buffalo, crocodile, elephant and a great deal of birdlife. Fishing for tigerfish and bream is popular, and birding walks can be arranged.
The restaurant sits under thatch with open sides and a view down to the river, with both buffet and a la carte. For a particular evening you can book a table on one of the lodge's two boats and eat as you cruise. There are two bars with panoramic views, a pool, a salon, a gift shop and an internet cafe.
One thing to know when comparing prices: one game drive and one boat cruise per night are included. Extra activities are booked and paid for locally.
